The Trade Center is a 200,000 square foot steel-framed
structure. The exhibit hall is approximately 230 feet by
300 feet. The roof of the exhibit hall consists of deep
230-foot long steel trusses spaced at 30 feet on center.
Alternate bays contain a sloped roof for a sawtooth
effect. The 300-foot prefunction hall adjacent to the
exhibit area contains a 2-story 80-foot diameter dome at
each end. The prefunction hall and domes are framed with
ornate steel trusses. Steel trusses in the exhibit area
were designed to have a maximum deflection of 2 inches so
that folding partitions could be utilized with the roof
fully loaded with snow or other live loads. The Center is
supported on shallow spread footings and was opened in
2007.
