February 21, 2014 – Atlanta, GA
More than 100 industry leaders from throughout the Southeast last night celebrated a locally owned, internationally known engineering firm’s first 50 years. Bennett & Pless, a consulting structural engineering firm, started in Atlanta in 1964 and claim a bevy of local landmarks as being products of their engineering design: The Atlanta Financial Center, Colony Square and Cobb Galleria to name a few; as well as other national and international projects such as the Ritz Carlton in the Grand Caymans and Portman’s Renaissance Center in Detroit.
Rex Pless, PE, the firm’s current COO and co-founder joked that “he actually joined the firm as a co-owner in 1966 and planned to work for at least another 2 years to earn his 50 year gold watch”. Mr. Pless introduced the firm’s current CEO and co-owner, Mr. Edward A. Gazzola, P.Eng., who was the former founder and President of Morrison Hershfield Corporation, a large international engineering firm. Mr. Gazzola commented, “Honored cannot adequately communicate my feelings to be charged with the responsibility of carrying this preeminent firm’s reputation for engineering excellence into the next half century”.
Guests at the event hosted at the Atlanta Athletic Club that were there to commemorate the firm’s historic success included executives from a broad cross-section of industries including long-standing clients in the Building Construction industry as well as clients from the Industrial and Wireless industries that the firm has more recently been servicing.
